Star of Love

Many cultures and religions of the world have relied on the star shaped symbols of pentacles and pentagrams throughout the SC004_originalages. Whether by ancient Pagans, ancient Israelites, Christians, magicians, or Wiccans to name a few, their power and protection is undeniable.

It is believed that it originated as the symbol of Kore, a Goddess who is said to have created the Roman alphabet.  The images (11)Roman’s called her Ceres, and the apple, because of it’s pentagram patterned seeds is noted as Kore’s sacred fruit.  The Roma refer to the core as the Star of Knowledge.BSWMAG_original

In Wicca, the five points of the star are representations of the five elements and their metaphysical aspects. The lower left point of the star is earth, the element of stability, foundations, and of the body. The Earth is the realm of wisdom, knowledge, strength, growth and prosperity. It is also the physical Earth on which we live and the very heart of life. Fire resides at the lower right point and represents courage.  Unlike the other elements, fire does not exist in a natural state. Its physical form comes to be by consuming some other element. It is the transformer which converts another energy into heat, light, ash, and smoke. .  Intuition belongs to the element of water, flowing with emotion at the upper right point. It is also the element FSC76TM_originalof subconscious, of purification, intuition, mysteries of the self, compassion and family. Water contains psychic ability and can be used as a means of scrying or as an object for meditation. The upper left point symbolizes air and represents the power of the mind, the force of intellect, inspiration, and imagination. It is ideas, knowledge, dreams and wishes.
